and provide us with the date and which service the reading is for (gas and/or electricity).Closing meter reading We’ll need a meter reading on the day the account is closed. This is to make sure our final balance is accurate and includes all the energy used and the daily standing charges. It's worth noting, the reading is accepted for the date it's put through. For an accurate bill, the best day to give a reading is the last day of that given month. For example, for an accurate March bill, you'd need to give your reading by the last day of February. Don't worry, the reading will still be used on the following month's bill if you miss the last day.
